Quickstart: live in 10 minutes

Create a chatbot, teach it about your business and put it on your website, step by step.

This guide takes you from a brand-new account to a chatbot answering questions on your website. Set aside about ten minutes. You need your website address and, if you have them, a few documents about your business, such as a price list, FAQ or policies.

Before you start
You need a Liyobot account with an active free trial or plan. If you haven’t signed up yet, follow Sign up and free trial first.

1. Create your chatbot#

  1. Open Chatbots

In the left menu, click Chatbots, then + New chatbot.

  2. Name it and enter your website

Give it a name your visitors will see, such as Support Assistant. Enter your Website domain, for example example.com. Don’t include https:// or a page path; Liyobot removes them anyway.

  3. Click Create chatbot

Liyobot opens the new chatbot’s workspace. The left menu now shows its sections: Set up, Train, Go live and Results.

2. Write a greeting and pick a colour#

In the dashboardChatbots›Your chatbot›Set up›Basics

In Greeting message, write the first thing visitors see, for example “Hi! Ask me anything about our services, prices or opening hours.” Then open Appearance and choose an Accent color that matches your brand. The Live preview on the right updates as you type. Click Save changes when you’re done.

3. Teach it about your business#

In the dashboardChatbots›Your chatbot›Train›Knowledge
  1. Click + Add source and choose Website

Enter your home page address and click Scan site. Liyobot lists the pages it finds so you can choose which ones to include.

  2. Choose pages, then crawl

Untick anything irrelevant, like login or cart pages, and click Crawl N pages. Progress appears in the sources table, and each page becomes searchable as soon as it’s read.

  3. Add files or text (optional)

Use the Upload file tab for PDFs and Word documents, or Text to paste things like your refund policy.

Tip
The bot only answers from what you give it. If a question isn’t covered, it says so politely and suggests contacting you. It won’t make things up. More in How the bot answers.

4. Put it on your website#

In the dashboardChatbots›Your chatbot›Go live›Embed code

Copy your embed code and paste it into your website’s HTML, just before the closing </body> tag. It looks like this, with your own chatbot ID:

HTML
<script src="https://api.liyobot.com/static/widget.js" data-bot-id="YOUR_BOT_ID"></script>

Using WordPress, Shopify, Wix or Squarespace? See the platform guides in Add the chatbot to your website.

5. Test it#

Open your website in a new tab. A chat launcher appears in the bottom corner. Ask a question your content answers, and one it doesn’t. The Get started checklist on your Dashboard ticks the last step automatically once the widget has loaded on your site.
