The accessibility toolbar is a small floating panel your visitors can use to make your website easier to read and use. They can resize text, boost contrast, switch to a dyslexia-friendly font, have text read aloud, and more. It’s free on every plan and loads with the same embed code as your chatbot, so there’s nothing extra to install.
Turn on the toolbar#
The toolbar is off by default.
Open Appearance
Open your chatbot and go to Appearance under Set up.
Tick the accessibility toolbar checkbox
The position settings and the list of tools appear underneath.
Choose a position and tools
Adjust where it sits and hide any tools you don’t want (see below).
Click Save changes
The toolbar appears on your website wherever your chatbot’s embed code is installed.
Position#
Place the toolbar by choosing an edge and a distance from it, in each direction. By default it sits in the bottom-left corner, 20 px from each edge, which keeps it clear of a chat launcher in the bottom-right.
- Vertical edge
- Top or Bottom (default Bottom)
- Horizontal edge
- Left or Right (default Left)
- Distance from edge
- 0–2000 px (default 20)
- Visitors can move it
- Yes, by dragging
Visitors can drag the toolbar somewhere else on the screen. Their position and the settings they choose are remembered in their own browser, so the page looks the way they like it next time.
Tools#
All tools are on by default. You can hide any of them to keep the toolbar simple.

Tips#
- If your chatbot launcher is on the left, move the toolbar to the right (or to the top) so the two don’t overlap. Launcher position is set on the same Appearance page.
- Check the result on a phone as well as a desktop after saving.
- The toolbar loads with your chatbot’s embed code, so it appears on the pages where that code is installed. See Add the chatbot to your website.
